Match Report
A thrilling and entertaining encounter between Toby & Ongar Town took place on Saturday afternoon at Newbury Park where Toby were looking to bounce back from the reverse fixture defeat a few weeks ago.
Mark Jones gave a very strong and passionate pre match team talk that certainly made sure that Toby were ready for the fight!
Changes were made with Dean Maguchu, Jake Jones & Marc Porter-Brown making way through injury for Graham Knight, Femi Wilton-Waddell and new signing Albert Perry.
The game started and straight away, Toby showed their physical intent and snatched an early through Chris Rowland (4mins) from a mix up between goalkeeper and defender after a Graham Knight clearance allowed Rowland to poke the ball home.
It could have been 2 shortly after through a quick fire counter attack that saw the ball being swept through to Rowland to the right hand side of the box and his shot was straight at the keeper. Toby were pumped at this point!
Graham Knight was in a bullish mood and saw his header go narrowly wide just before the break after Rhys Willson delivered a free kick in from the right. 1 - 0 at the break.
Second half began and it was Ongar who scored the next goal after the ball managed to find its way to the back post for a tap in.
This didn't stop Toby's desire to press, battle for every first and second ball, and then managed to take the lead through Chris Rowland (70 mins) where a cheap free kick was given away and Rhys Willson served up a peach for the faintest of flicks into the corner. 2-1!!
The battle continued and with 15 to go, Ongar was rewarded a penalty after a clearance from the back saw the forward knock the ball past Charlie Perry and went down after a challenge. Goal Ongar 2-2.
Toby again pressing from the front managed to create one last half chance through Dom Cooper at the back post but the ball went to safety.
Full Time and the game finished 2-2.
A fantastic all round performance by the Brewers and was really unlucky not to take away the 3 points.
