Match Report
Toby Reserves second game of the season saw them face off against Manford Way Reserves in the league cup. With a few changes from last week due to injuries the team were still keen to continue their positive start to the season. Unfortunately on this occasion Toby Reserves did not start off as positively as they did in the previous week and after a nervy start found themselves 1-0 down early in the game. After some reshuffling of how the team set up and some settling down by the team, Toby Reserves started to pass the ball around with more confidence and get into the game. The team's improvement and persistence paid off not long after as Ince Ryan was brought down in the box to be awarded a penalty. Up stepped Charlie Ross who confidently scored from the spot to make it 1-1.
The game now had more of back and forth to it, with some offside decisions putting a stop to some promising Toby Reserves moves and chances. However the game did not remainin square for too long as Manford Way Reserves managed to score a second before the break. 2-1 at half time and further work for Toby Reserves to do.
The second half started a lot more positively with the passing, communication and work rate improved further. However as Toby Reserves searched for a second equaliser they were punished again by conceding a third goal, Manford Way seemed to be taking all their chances today. Toby Reserves continued to battle on and not let their heads drop however 3-1 proved to be a mountain too high to climb and they were further hit with a fourth and fifth goal as they searched for a way back in and left themselves vulnerable to their opposition. Final score Toby Reserves 1 - Manford Way Reserves 5. Not a great day for the team but a chance to learn and make right going forward.
